Hi All,
I have a male and female Kakariki of which we are unsure of the females age. Trevor, the male, is young and keeps pestering Ruby, the female, for sexual relations and after a few days she does not want anything to do with him and tries to keep out of his way. Recently, she had a bad wing which I am not sure if Trevor caused by his affections!! We separated them but kept the cages close and Ruby soon got better and obviously wanted to be back with Trevor. After 3 days we put her back in the cage with Trevor and things were fine for 2-3 days and then again she needed a rest from him so we repeated the process. I need advice - they obviously want to be together when they are separated but Trevor seems too much for Ruby when they are together - what is the best plan of action?

She may need to have a nesting box to be receptive...This will require a larger cage or flight
How large is their cage?

Thanks for the advice. However I do not think that she is particularly unreceptive, it is just that Trevor appears to injure her wing during mating so when he goes near her, she squawks loudly as if in pain. As mentioned previously, they do like to be together but Ruby's health concerns me and I do not want her to suffer.
