Hi My wife and i have been looking for a pet for a while now as we are not in any financial situation to have children yet.

So whilst out shopping yesterday we went to our local pet shop and we really wanted a bird. on looking in the pet shop we seen an african grey who was really loud and we thought that he was the one for us but we dont have the time to keep up with a parrot of that calibre and the women in the shop said it was no good for a first bird.

in the cage next to the parrot was this lovely brid green in colour with a little red face and a large streak of yellow running down the back of her head it was a kakariki she is beautiful we could not leave the shop without her.

she wont come out of her cage yet but i have read some of the replys people have left and i have found them to be very helpfull.

she loves her apple but she is not very noisy yet, will she get noisy? and will she eventually come out of her cage? she is still only 3 months old

thank you for listening to me
best regards
daniel and nicola leyshon

She is right in many aspects, its good to have retailers being responsable and caring for both their birds and customers needs.

She will...let her settle in, get her bearings, learn what is and not.

not very noisy yet,

Depends what u mean noisy...screech like black back gull, or chatter away all the time....Kakariki are more of the latter as they get older.

Welcome to the Kakariki lovers club! Laughing
signlol, Kakariki are the best fids in my humble opinion! They are cute, not too loud & can be very affectionate - on their terms. You are in for a great time with her.
