I just wondered if you have ever heard of a Kakariki 'twisting a toe'.
I got pretty freaked out when I noticed that my 'baby', 6 mos. Old, was having some kind of problem walking and climbing. When I looked I noticed that his one 'back toe' had come and overlapped the front one !!!!!! Man, was I scared !!!!!!
Needless to say, I couldn't leave the poor guy like that, all twisted an not able to walk etc ... So, I gently got ahold of of the toe that wasn't supposed to be in the front and, I CAREFULLY slipped it back behind the one it was 'caught on', for lack of a better description. He was happy right after I fixed it, he licked it a couple of times, I guess he was cleaning it ??, he seems okay now.
HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THIS ????????
P.S.
I clipped Tiki's toenails the very next day without TOO MUCH fuss. I had to hold my 'baby' like a football, in one hand, while I had baby clippers in the other, doing the clipping. He struggled for quite a bit when he realized that I had him 'laying on his back' but he realized he wasn't going to win and, settled down after a couple 'belly rubs'. I hope I did this okay, any tips out there ????
N never heard of it an dont doubt its possible
Your actions...well thats exactly what I would have done
Toe clipping, the need is because of enviroment, Kakariki love digging and scratching in the dirt for hrs on end, espec Reds.
I consider that when u can tip your bird over on its back without any problems, that is almost the ultimate in trust between you and your bird.
The ultimate is when you can open your hand and they look at you to say "u want me to go? Im pretty laid back here." _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
