Hi, I have several kaks in an aviary. Build a 120x40x50 breeding cage last couple of days. I have a couple I would really like to breed. Can I just take them out of the aviary into the cage or should I wait for signs they want to breed. What is wisdom...

Hi and w3c to our site. Hope you enjoy the great site and our ever growing family of members.

In answer to your question I would suggest you can put the pair you have chosen into the breeding cage. There is more chance they will bond if seperated than flying in an aviary with other Kakariki. Put them together and keep an eye on them for the first few days. It is during this time you will observe whether they will bond or if you notice aggressive behaviour from the cock bird you may have to seperate them. Good luck and keep us posted.

This couple is bonded. I was just not sure if I could set them apart or not without specific breeding behavior. However because of your comment I will set them apart when I finished the self build breeding cage tomorrow.
I'm new here on the forum and had no time to introduce myself. I'm Sjoerd, Dutch and in great love with kakariki's. Have several mutations in the aviary.

Welcome to our Site...
A bit off topic, I did see u have trouble trying to registar the other day, but was unable to contact you to help out. Glad u made it along.
Do u have a small banner logo about 135x30, I will then add your web site to the "members websites" block on the right of the front page.
