Was at a big bird show today and wandering around the halls of for sale birds i happened up a table with a seller and their blue kakarikis.

First time i have seen this mutation in the flesh, so to speak, so was really interesting.

They were nice looking birds in good feather, all the birds seemed very steady.

The colour was definitely blue, but not quite as vivid as i expected, and the crown was a silvery white. They still have the deep blue wing feathers like the greens. I just felt the lack of the red crown just didnt feel right for a kakariki.

I liked them, but at £900 a pair I dont think i'll be adding them to my collection any time soon. Will be nice to have when the price drops though, just for the novelty factor.

Here are a couple photos I took today
