hello to all
ive read as much on this forum in regards to different species in a show aviary with kakarijis, i have two kakairikis tahni and rongo tahni is fun mischevious and sooo very curious Rongo is somewhat aloof but not bossy, ok here is my question ive been handed tow very young Rainbow Lorikeets they are only just eating by themselves and drinking by themselves as yet theyre beaks have not turned bright red, i am wondering and kinda hoping i may be able to house them in the same aviary? although it seems 80% of forum advice seems in the negative!
I have introduced both pairs twice now and although the lorikeets show a bit of dont come too close poses and they kakarikis arent too put out
Am i flirting with danger for any of the birds health by attempting to see if they will cohabitate??
As always your advice is gratefully received
cheers sean

If the kakariki, dont have a nesting box and not going to nest...then there is no reason lorries will be any different o other compatible species.
Yes watch them... yes there will be a bit of pecking order, as who gets the top perch.
Make sure have enough perches plus at different heights and scattered around... best time to introduce is coming on dusk.

Hi steptoe,
many thanks for your reply, i have done just that and of course will keep a close eye out for any mischeif, so far they are sharing the same blossoms and are all just as curious as to theyre new surrounds as i have added perches as per your advice and changed the whole environment so dynamics for both species is equal, will keep you posted as to progress and hopefull of getting some pics up soon
Cheers once again from sunny adelaide

Adelaide is our favorite Aussie city..very nice place.
There used to be a kakariki breeder living there....somewhere in the suburbs towards the base of the foot hills. have not heard from him in many years now.
