Hi I’ve had my kakariki for a few months now and he still seems to be very scared every time i go near the cage or put my hand inside.
Also he doesn’t seem to be very vocal, he’s only a little bit vocal early in the mornings.
I leave his cage open for the whole day and he’s in my bedroom so he has the possibility to fly around and be curious but he doesn’t seem to be interested to come out his cage.
I initially got him by himself because i wanted him to learn to talk a few words and was told to get him by himself for that, but now I’m started to ask myself if i should get him a friend or not, so that he can be a bit more active?
Any Suggestions?
Thank You

On the left is a "quick search" block
search taming and you will come up with a bit of reading
Also do Diet looking for a thread "what do you feed..."

My bird was quiet for a few days then started repeating phrases that we spoke to him. His capacity stopped at about 8 phrases. He is noisier when the tv is on or we have visitors or use the telephone. He also likes to talk to other birds through the window. The more you interact with him, the more he should respond.
