hi everyone ,new member from the UK ,as i understand it Kakarikis are a bit of a conservation issue down there in NZ,the birds are becoming quite popular over here mostly buttercup pied and cinnamon variations being bred quite regularly by breeders ,sorry if this has been asked before but would anyone know of a good hand rearing guide ? i am rearing 5 after the pair i had sitting seemed to be struggling as it was there first round and i lost one chick ,

i am using a rearing guide designed for cockatiels and its working well but im not sure of the ratio of feed per sitting when feeding ,they tend to just take what they want then run back to the brooder signlol,

currently they are 3-4 weeks old and are gaining weight almost every day ,some days they dont gain a lot but as long as they dont lose weight im taking that as good sign ,at what age should they be self feeding ,ive read its later than tiels who are feeding themselves anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 weeks

it would be nice to see an in depth guide for anyone whos thinking of rearing and to help out those who havent done it before(its not something id recommend for a total newbie but sometimes you just have to step in and lend a hand)
