hi,
this weekend , big surpise. no way one box(from Nalu and Spot) with two eggs, the other box from raco and jane, 5 eggs to see in rapid counting.. but euhm.. it's october in belgium.. this means autumn and lower temperatures. outside it is now mean temperature of 12 C° inside need to put on warming elements already. . so this also means there are other vegetables and fruits for sale here. No more nice green leaves on the trees for the birds. I searched the forum for any advice about room temperature and so on , what to pay attention too now ? special diet assumptions? the birds now get more seed. carrot, apple, broccoli, cauliflower.. salad leaves. and eggfood, sunflowerseeds.
Our kakariki breed all year round, in open outside aviaries with frosts on the ground in winter.
They are a very hardy bird... just keep suppling the veggies apples protien etc... they will do the rest themselves. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
just one week to go and chicks will start to hatch if there are fertile eggs :) Do I have to change something about the diet these first days for the chicks ? The guy where I bought the kikes, he said to place boiled egg in the cage, because it is soft and easy for the pop to feed the chicks. what is your opinion about that?
should eggfood (this is now unlimited in the cage because the package told me that), and "powerfood for parakeets" give some extra ??
Read the thread ..."what do u feed..."
basically your birds should have good, balanced constant diet all the time
other than that no special diets... but u will find their choice of what they eat from the choice will change as per different times of the year and id breeding what ever.
No we have never used egg food or eggs... other than left overs from the occasional breakfast or grand children staying over..
And have never had the need for expensive artificial foods[/b] _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
