Yay
I finally have health chicks, being fed helps :).

I have 3 prs red fronted kaks. 2 pairs have had two clutches with none in first clutch hatching for either pair, and t hen second clutch several chicks hatched but died within first couple of days, with empty crops, as parents did not feed at all. I put this down to them being quite young and inexperienced, as they are well bonded pairs, and have a good consistent diet.

My third pair percy and dee have done it. First clutch produced 6 eggs, with 4 now hatched, into gorgeous fluffy grey chicks with lovely full crops. They are about 6 months older than the other parents so I'm definitely hoping with a bit more age my other young pairs will be successful too. So happy to have these babies, was starting to think I would never see baby kaks :)
cheers
Jo

This is usually owners being too curious.. and the parents dont like the attention, espec young parents.
Kakariki are very tolerant but each pair does have their limits

Well done and 4 out of 6 is good...very hard to get much better than that.
