Hi all
iv been on a week holiday and left my birds with care while i was away, but upon my return, i found my female kakariki was on the ground of her avary and unable to fly, but did look healthy.
i placed her in a small cage and took her inside in the cool (as its extremely hot here and thought it could be some sort of heat stroke). but after a day, she hasnt been able to fly yet. ive taken her out and left her in our cooled loungeroom but still cannot fly.
her wing doesnt seem to be broken and i notice when she is walking around, it takes her a little while to get her full balance.
since she has been in her little cage, she is eating very well and drinking too.
is there any disease or issue she could have gotten while i was away?
she has a mate, so could the male have apart of this? something to do with breeding?
she has been inside for two days, today being her third and im thinking a trip to the vet could be the best option.. and i will be checking for a tick of some sort this afternoon that could be causing this behaviour.
would really appreciate a reply as soon as possible as im very worried!
Thanks
