i recently bought what i was told a male yellow kakariki red head and then purchased what i am told is a female green red head kakariki, the one that is supposed to be the male does have the larger beak and is geniunly a larger bird, and soon after i introduced her to him he started to dance around and feed her,so i introduced a nest box and straight away he was checking it out,and going in but not her? is this usual behaviour?
Yes..it is the male who has to 'provide' a suitable 'home' for the female to approve. Its normal to provide 2 nesting boxes....they will need a 2nd nesting box well before the chicks start getting coloured feathers anyway. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
