HI CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY MY 7WK OLD BABY?
I WAS TOLD HES LOOKING LIKE A MALE....
AND I THOUGHT HES COLOURING WAS QUITE UNUSUAL, IS IT A PIED?
IT ALSO HAS A COUPLE OF GREEN PATCHES ON THE BODY WITH THE MAJORITY OF THE BODY BEING YELLOW.

hi there and w3c

your kak is a dominant pied red fronted kakariki ... cannot quite tell but it may have a little bit of yellow mutation in its crown but will be able to tell more when it develops properly.
did u breed this bird or buy it to hand rear as it is a very young?

Judging by the wideness and the length of the beak I would say male.

okay thanks! glad hes male.
I bought him today, hes actually 8wks old tomorrow. this pic was the photo used to advertise him so he is a wk older or so from the pic.
Ill be keeping a close eye on his colouring as he grows.
what would be a good coloured hen to breed him with? later on.
And after closer inspection he actually has one, (not two) Green body patch, right on his back there you can just see it in the photo.
with small green patches near both eyes aswell, and the rest of his body bright yellow.
