Hi Step toe - Thanks for the reply.

I checked the nest box and she didn't seem too worried but after sitting in there for 3 weeks there are no signs of anything... not even broken eggs. She has gone back in so I will let her do her thing and check again in another couple of weeks.

I was really hoping to be handraising some babies soon!

Thanks for the advice, that has given me something to think about.
It's mid Autumn here so it's probably too late to find 2 mature birds to pair up, I have watched them for some time and have never seen the male be aggressive toward the female, he does seem very interested in the rosellas next door.

When I checked the next box I noticed a fair few loose feathers and she seemed to be moulting slightly, it doesn't look like the feathers have been plucked from her. Could she be using these to make a nest?

Would I be better off to introduce some new kakarikis and split up the pair?

She does look like she is going through a moult. I can hear the birds from inside the house and have only heard the noise that is similar to a frog or sicata, I haven't heard any distressed noises.

I will look into getting better birds, Thanks =)
