Hi all,

I am Geertje.
Dutch and trying here , so forgive me for sounding like a 4 year old now and then Wink
I registered just to thank you all so so SOOO very much for all the info on this site!
I've spent many hours on here as there is only little info about Kakariki's to be found on Dutch sites.
And the info I do find there, most of the times , I disagree with.
Specially when it comes to diet's.
In Holland most breeders recommend seeds or pellets and very little fruit and veggies. And by little I mean, teaspoon quantity and nibbles. Too much would cause diarea according to them.
Now I happen to have a young, male, kakariki that loves fruit and veggies
a whole lot more than he cares for his seeds.

So Steptoe, you made my day (and his) when I read about what you feed your kaki's. <v>

I tace care of a redcrowned, yellow Kakariki named "Kwibus"
He is a little over 4 months old now and I love him to pieces.
He is a happy, healthy and very friendly clown.

I keep him in a montana madeira 3 ( 96cm/58cm/100cm eff. livingspace)
But as soon as I am home his cage is open.
I made him a " playnet" from one wall to the other with lots of toys and stuff but most of the time he likes sitting on my lap trying to mess up my score @ Angry birds
Rolling Eyes

Again, thanks for all the info on here! I will defintely make it a habit to check this forum regularly.

Have a great weekend everybody,

Geertje

Thank you
Such posts make the efforts all worthwhile.

yes they are partly right.....a sudden change in diet will cause that...doesnt matter if it is a bird or people heading to a different cuture overseas...Till the body settles down after a few day.
The other issue is usually they have only 1 or 2 types of fruit/veggies as a try or "treeat" which doesnt make a consistant balanced diet.

Cheers
Steps.
