it's been great reading you two talking about this, i've just got my first two kakirakis and am currently building an aviary, my major concern was the weather as i'm on the coast in south wales, but your chats have eased my worries. do you know of any uk based kakariki clubs.

cheers

Hi guys,

I don't know the actual stats of this website, but my guess is that a good part of this community is indeed formed by UK based people.

I don't think you'll find any "kakariki clubs" as there is not a huge fan-base like with budgies or lovebirds.

Btw... talking about clubs... I wonder if for some of you guys wouldn't be worth to join a budgie club as usually they have some sort of mini-shop or agreements and maybe you can buy seed and other supplies cheaper than retail.

Cheers / Pablo

The closest i've heard of is the parrot society, and some members breed red and yellows. You can find some very nice birds at the parrot society shows such as stafford. But in truth, as far as learning about the birds themselves you wont do better than this website.

It would be nice to know more local people to swap birds with and so on for breeding, only way i've got of finding good birds, particularly yellows is to pop into various aviaries as im travelling around the country.
