Hi, I have a pair of Kaks (Tana (as in Umanga) male and Riki female approx 24 months old. I bought the pair from a breeder about 18 months ago. Just before xmas I moved them into an avery 1m x 2.5h, with a nesting box. They are extremely active, they are at it 4-6 times a day. What advise can anyone give on breeding? I live in Sydney, the birds are in a sheltered spot in the garden with great morning light and good afternoon shade in summer.
Your seasons arte very similar to here, maybe a little warmer overall
1 pair last season started to lay in the coldest week of the yr, in the middle of frosts, and the 2nd a couple weeks later.
just throw the nesting box in and wait
An increase in protein and iron calcuim
left over chopped up Chicken bones, chopped up left over meat (cooked) tends to throw them into breeding mode a few weeks later...
maintain this part of the diet right thru till the chicks fledge.
these 2 pairs are now laying again for the 4th time this seadon, and the other 2 pair 2nd and 3rd time.
Poor diet means issues from egg binding, infertiltey to small off spring
Quick search block on the left and search buttom above. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
