hey guys

kiwi got treated in december for what was believed to be mites, this cleared up the bald patches on her wings.
Since then the bit under her beak where the crop is has gone bald. What i wanted to ask is does the crop stick out? i've looked at my other kakariki and his doesnt seem to jut out at all, are they supposed to and am i just noticing it because the feathers have gone? we think she developed it from rubbing against a cardboard nestbox we had given her as it was slightly raw healed and then had a scab again. What do you guys think?

any help greatly appreciated
mandy

Get it checked out by a vet, could be a cyst of some sort.
A secondary infection from the mites????

hey
vet thinks it is another dose of mites, he believes that although clearing up the affected area, he hadn't given us a long enough/ strong enough dose to kill all mites and eggs. He has given us more mite treatment drops and if it doesn't clear up we have to take her back and he will explore whether it is a cyst or not.

thanks for all your help, i really appreciate it

Run a search for mites (quick search to the left) 2 maybe 3 doses would be enough...maybe gettng reinfection clean down cages etc and try the 50/50 vinegar mist spray.

Looking at the pic, condition of feathers, and not being able to do a physical inspection, Im still with a cyst
