I was given my first ever Kakariki a couple of months ago, I had never even heard of a Kak until he came along. Sadly he died suddenly last week and we were all so devastated. These birds can change a household so much. He was a crazy and cheeky bird who was always up to something like swooping at my dog, even pulling his ear now and again, Or giving me a sore bite on the ears whenever he got the chance. He brought so much life and laughter to us. I seen 3 in the pet shop and chose 1 that was a slightly lighter green than our other 1. It also has streaks of lovely yellow all through it. 12 weeks old. Had it now for 5 days and it seems to be so shy and timid compared to other one. Not even making eye contact with me. the other one used to stare with evil cheeky eyes. it is very slowly coming round but can I do anything to win its trust or come out of its shyness OR is this it, A pretty boring bird. I dont plan on getting rid of it as that would be a shame. Any suggestions on how if possible I can win its trust folks.

Let them come to you, and give THEM reason to do so...
Do not force.
It is all a matter of trust

Also keep in mind parrots have personality, they are not machines, kakariki in particular vary greatly uin their nature...
This maybe due to their unque trait of independance
