I would like to make a foraging box type deal at the bottom of my cage, where i could put a material that is safe for them to dig around in and i can put all his food etc on the floor and he can go scratch for it. I am wondering what is safe for them. Could i use dirt, wood chips etc? Has anyone done this? Note: I live in an apartment so an aviary is not a possibility but would like to make a nice floor for him almost compared to what he would normally have in the wild. Obviously i can't do trees or shrubs since i am prone to killing them.
Natural compost....not the stuff they sell in bags at plant shops ..
If you know someone who has a garden and good well broken down compost... or compost from the forest floor.
Scrape back the top dry/ fresh leaf uncomposted layer and use the stuff below.. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'

You cant get out into the wilderness or even a forest on the edge of the suburbs?
Or know someone that has a garden?
Or have a chat to a local city garden/ park/ cemetery , gardener.. just a couple shovel full?
Wood chips.. yep... careful if have been treated, or type you use.
Several old threads on that...
Sry the concept of living in a city apartment and not having access.. be it a short walk , bus, train or car ride, or not knowing someone who has a garden or farm... to anything beyond the central city, or city parks is way beyond my comprehension. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
