Hello guys,
I came home today and discovered that my kakariki has laid one egg in her nest. It was surprising for me, because male is just 5 months old and I have never seen them mating. I brought male kakariki 3 weeks ago and in the beginning they were always fighting.
I don't have any incubator so what should I do? yes mom spends most of her time in nest sitting on egg, but is there anything else I can do for it?
Leave them to it.
Don keep checking disturbing the hen/ nest etc
Good diet
Add a 2nd nest box in the next couple weeks. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'

Thank you,
But generally is it possible to lay eggs that fast? when male was just brought home? its just last couple of days that they are not fighting anymore.
What do you exactly mean in diet? They have everything, vegetables, fruit, seeds and etc..
Kakariki in reasonable weather conditions.. down to mild frosts in winter will breed continuously for around 3 yrs til female becomes infertile after around 130 healthy adult males with around 1% defect rate and around a 80% eggs to healthy adult rate.
Therefore a good , varied and consistent diet is essential, as id preventive maintenance..
apple cider vinegar/ mint, etc
A sticky thread called "what do you feed...?
