Yesterday Abby was brought,
shes a young yellow-fronted hen and we hope she will find her love in our flock. Yet, 7 red-crowned and 3 yellow-fronted kaks liv in our birdroom. One pair of our redcrowned is sapareted because the cock broke his wing and can't fly anymore. But here the pictures telling the story

Thanks,
shure we will do <v>

It's very interesting, the two species living in our birdroom live their lifes. Someway they are together - calling each other, but mainly the red-crowned are keeping to themselves and the yellow-fronted keep together too.

It's only a small spot, but when we are feeding invertebrates the yellow-fronted are the first to hunt the small animals, meanwhile the red-fronted are running around surching for the dead rests - seams they do not like the crowling in their beaks Anxious

The last pic, thats definately a hybrid cross....
There is some question as to a yellow patch behind the eye of a yellow crown bring hybrid... older siscussions here.
The red crown and patches are generally a dark red, often almost a crimson, with no sign of ANY yellow or orange tinge.
The yellow is a palish pure yellow colour, no red or orange tinge at all... preferably no patch behind the eye.
The orange crown....not in capitivity...is same as the yellow crown but has a orange band above the nose.
