Hi all, posting from Rome,Italy. I have a new pair of yellow kaks, hen has some green too. They have recently made 3 babies, all yellow with red forehead. two have normal red cheeks, however the other has dark green cheeks, no red visible.Normal? All the pics i have searched, always is some red on cheeks....
Welcome to our community. Red on the cheeks......Do you you mean the red spot behind the eye? Sometimes it can be surrounded by green in an almost 100% pied. Can you post some pics?
Thankyou for the Peter. Sorry i did intend patch behind the eye,not the cheek. It is showing all green so far, only pin feathers but the skin underneah is also dark, doesnt look like there is any room left for red to show through...I will post pics tomorrow if i can get help(not very good with computers)
Green feathers always have a dark underlying skin and dark down in contrast with yellow/pied feathers which have a pink skin and white down. I'm sure the red feathers will appear soon.
