Hi everyone im new to this forum. My son had 2 kakarikis and when he left home to get his own piace i was really upset and was really gonna miss him and his kakariki so he bought me my own . Hes lovely named sunny and is a yellow and red bird called sunny i love him dearly and have had him around 10 months. He says lots of words like hello mummy sunny whos that and imitates some whistles .He has recently becoe rather agressive with my husband and will threaten him then fly at his face. We have found if we tell him no and speak sternly whilst pointing a finger above his head he will submit and stop the behavior He is still not to keen on hands and stepping on unless you give him a treat then he will take it and fly off to eat it .Has anyone got any tips on training kakarikis to step on i would be greatful he will sit at the side of me and sometimes on my arm or on the setee at the side of me any suggestions w3c.

hi!

w3c to the forum!!!
yet another member from UK, soon Steptoe will have to rename this forum to kakariki.co.uk or something signlol

kakariki are very active, so teaching them to step up can be kinda difficult as it's not easy to approach them somehow static.
As with any other parakeet simply approach your hand/finger towards his chest/breast and they will step up instinctively.

As for other tips, run a forum search (quick search block on the left of the forum) for words like taming tame training etc... and you'll find several discussions on the topic, feel free to post on those any questions or feedback you may have so that those threads become richer.

Its already the or something Wink
We are in NZ which if I regist the domain name in NZ would have been kakariki.co.nz but thats damn expensive, and to be able to host on ones own server is a real hassle, hosting on their servers gets expensive and since the site is international I regist it off shore with the .net
The other advantage hosting locally in my office is I have full control of everything from hardwear, logs, configuration, AND backups, data , everything and the mail servers etc etc.
If it screws up I KNOW why....if on a host and screws up I KNOW why and have to deal with wet behind the ears PR BS, excuses, I dont need to tell their so called experts how to suck eggs.

This strongly suggests your bird is a male...and very common with most pets, cats dogs, birds etc....If it was a female then the chances are it would be his bird now and u getting the flak Shocked
He has decided that you are his best friend/ m8 and is not willing to share u.....Soln is what u are doing now, and more important your husband establish as the alpha male in the 'flock'....bit stand offish at times and make very good use of his deeper voice, and lack of tollerance to such threat / challange to THE alpha male.
He should not treat as a jellosy thing, but a challange to his position in the flock....ones attitude towards issues influneces how one executes them...animal pick it up very easy.
