Hey guys,

I took today some pics of my aviaries and breeding cages, thought of sharing them with you.
They are not as nice as some other guys around here, or some of the aviaries you can see at websites like vogelarena, but... I do what I can.

In the following days I'll start planting stuff around to improve the looks, and may paint the wooden frames.

Cheers/ Pablo

Well for a starter your wood working skills are far better than mine
Those big doors on the front....kakarki are damn quick
I have doors about 500 tp 600 wide and just height enough for me to step thru....noe worried if taller ppl hit their head.
It more in the doors being short than wide to put the birds off flying past

All inside a shed? could that be a little hot in summer?
And that ..what looks like plastic...on the end flight...what is it?

upload the pics to thr post m8...
Cheers
Steps

Hi Steps,

it was a carpenter, friend of my grandpa's, who built the wooden structure of the aviaries.

Yes there is plastic in one end of the aviaries. At the other end I replaced it with polycarbonate plastic. This end of the aviary I still have to do it, either place new plastic or polycarbonate.
I used to keep indian ringnecks (for 2 yrs in the beginning), and they broke a small piece of plastic, kakariki and cockatiels don't bother with it.

The doors are huge, and there is no safety door, and that needs to be addressed, so been thinking of modding them somehow. I could place 1 wooden post and make a fixed part, then the actual door 60-70cm wide, as you suggest.

Heat is not a big problem, the hotest days are bearable for the birds as there is enough ventilation. For me the biggest issue is daylight/sunlight, as during winter it's too dark most of the time, in my opinion. Maybe it's good for the birds, but I'm not too sure about that.
The new suspended cages do not have that problem, light is ok.
