I agree that Leukosis is common in poultry. Drs. Jan Hooimeijer is a reputable veterinarian in the Netherlands. He runs a clinic wich is specialised in birds of all kind and has done a lot of research.
He claims that avian Leukosis is proven in Chickens, pheasant, ducks, goose, parrot, parakeets and canary. And also in bovine animals and cats.
"Chickens are the natural hosts of all viruses of the leukosis/sarcoma virus group; these viruses have not been isolated from other avian species except pheasants, partridges and quail".
Fadley AM, Payne LN. 2003. Leukosis/sarcoma group. In: Saif YM (ed) Diseases of poultry 11th edition. Pp 465-516. Blackwell Publishing, Iowa USA.
This is my most current source of information on avian leukosis virus. If Dr Hoojimeier has new published information I would be keen to see it.
Regards
