Hi, I'm trying to find out what mutations yellow fronted kakarikis are found in ! I have 2 different colors in mine but I've found pictures og yellow and pied from one breeder here in Sweden. Anyone that knows ?

Over the years there are very few if any 100% pure RC or YC around...and much of that is from cross breeding to establish the mutation genes in both species.
Then back breeding each species on its self to the get above about 95%+ acceptable pure breed.
And as far as I know there are not any detailed records going back to the 17 and 1800s identifying actual mutations in each species.
And thinking about it, from memory, all of the old records seem to indicate RC mutations and describe how common they where in the wild...

Either way I think it would now be very difficult or maybe impossible to ID mutations to species now... espec since mutations in the wild are now basically extinct.. and non existent in NZ captive stocks.
The reason for this is the kakariki was a serious threat to the crops od early settlers, so got blasted out of the skys by shot guns.....any surviving mutations then got exported off shore. This removed most of the mutation genetic lines. On top of that in the late 1800s . 1900s introduced rats, possums, ferrets stoats etc then decimated most of NZs native animal population, and made extinct many others...taking care of any remaining mutations.
