Hi guys, I was thinking of getting a friend for my kakariki because he's always by himself during the day and seems really lonely.. Would it be okay to get a baby ringneck to put with him or not.. Or what else could I put with him..
We have had kakariki with sulphur crested, kings , crimson wing , cockeil, turq and burkes... all good companions epec the 4.
I u put in another kakariki of different sex then they will pair up and the male become defensive of the female...often neither end up as good a pets as previously
There is no issue with 2 males or 2 females...
The problem comes about introducing an un wanted occupier of of the 1st birds bedroom... they are territorial about there perch and immediate area around it....if in a large flight a bit of pecking order takes place and settles down, For a caged kakariki (most parrot species ) one has to change the site of the cage and the total environment, then put the 2 birds into gether just before dusk. This works well most of the time, other than a little pecking order....Oh and have perches at different heights to. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
