How many nesting boxes do i need i read that you ned one for the female and one fot the male cant i just have one

you have not read that here... it is 100% wrong
You need 2 nesting boxes
1/ with 2 the chances of the female approving and therefore breeding are far greater
2/ Kakariki once start to breed , dont stop with the female laying in the 2nd nesting box as early as the 1st batch just getting a little adult colour. If she doesnt have a 2nd nesting box it is very likely she will lay with the chicks, once she has laid she often then considers the chicks invaders.
The male looks after the chicks in the 1st box and also female and chicks in 2nd box...
