Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the 'types' of my birds?

I have 1 green with a red patch on his head, 1 girl who is yellow with a red patch on her head (well she would have if her feathers grew there), and 1 male/1 female yellow and green with red patches on their heads.

I have been reading through some of the other forums and I am now confused as to whether 2 of my birds are pieds or hybrids.

Thanks

Wendelina,

in my opinion the green looks fine.

The pieds look a bit marginal, the crown is too short. It should extend a bit longer, more or less up to the vertical of the eye (there's a discussion about it in the forum).
What I don't know is if they are worth giving a try and pull a clutch or you would be better off starting with better birds. If they were yellow fronts, as they are difficult to come by, I would say give it a try definitely, but I think you may be able to get better birds from some of the forum members based in the UK, I don't know if any of them by any chance lives close to you.

Cheers / Pablo

Hi Pablo,

Thanks for the reply and info.

You haven't mentioned the yellow (Mellow), I know she is not Lutino as she has black eyes does this mean she is a mutation too?

Thanks.
