a key ring L.E.D or anything low powered will do .. i've found most candling torches are for larger eggs like chickens on ebay. i haven't managed to find one specifically for smaller eggs although i havent done a major search for one seeing that my keyring torch does the job fine. i just make a cardboard tube which i can sit the egg in then shine from the other end. _________________ thanks brucie.....
I also use a keyring mini-torch to candle the eggs.
I bought them at dealextreme.com $3 for 10 of them, free shipping.
As steps says I just place the keyring in the palm of my hand, make a sort of "fist" and then put the egg on top. Will take a picture next time I candle.
But... once you have some experience you have a feeling when you see the eggs in the nest, when they are fertile if you light them with the torch they have a different shade than non-fertile.
yes pabloc i agree i havent checked my eggs this time and the eggs which i guessed were infertile were.. my other pair are nearly done sitting 7 eggs and i guess four of them are fertile .... more white than the others and look different too the other 3 ... looking forward to seeing if im right _________________ thanks brucie.....
