Funny how the irises also seem to have mutated. I like to see more photos from different angles. Let's say about 10. And quick! Laughing

At last some hope that the blue mutation does exist. We have been waiting a long time for this. They do look genuine . What are your thoughts Peter?

As you may have seen on facebook my first toughts were they are photoshoped. The bird on on the latest added pic looks very reel. I'm looking forward to see his white and cinnamon blue breeds.
A few weeks ago someone asked me by email if I had Blues for sale. I replied they do not exist. He said he heard the rumour they were bred by someone in the nord of Holland. Maybe he was refferring to these birds.

Wow a black eyed white as well !!!! Hope we can hear more about these gems in the near future? Peter i agree with you from the few photos so far both blues appear to have pied in thier feet, which would fit if they were bred out of BEC or gold checks, also fits to have bred a black eyed white bird. I only hope if these birds are to go to auction they are bought by a breeder who knows what they are doing. So easy to lose a mutation at this early stage if the breeding is not handled correctly. Hope you are going to bid Peter? I wonder if the parent birds are going to be actioned as well, they are most important birds in this mutation!

If the parent birds are unrelated, which is likely, then they received the Blue gene from their parents etc.
Probably the gene is already circulating for years in different aviaries without their owners being aware of. This is the downside of breeding unrelated birds. Bidding.....no, I have patience.
This would be different when someone offers me a state of the art normal Laughing

Maybe I'm a bit cynical, but I'm still not 100% confident that these birds are real. For me it's a bit strange that the breeder himself doesn't announce the birds, or the pics are in a website or something like that.
Just all of a sudden a few pics appear in facebook... I don't know.

What are your thoughts Peter?

Hi Pablo,

I still have mixed feelings about it. But on the other hand I have one reliable source who has confirmed me they are real. He even told me where he lives.
What would we do when we suddenly find the holy grail in our aviarie? We live in a greedy world. It regularly happens that a breeder's aviary is being ransacked for his high valued birds. In that case it is obvious he does not allow priers.

So do I espec after seeing the bird in Aussie..
These are in far better health.
They have a far more 'blue' blue than the darker dirtier blue of the Aussie bird
And the Aussie bird I still suspect it was because of some dietry or health issue....it eventually died not long after we saw it.
IF theAussie bird was genuine, then the blue of these is far too much of a 'photoshop' blue...way too perfect 1st time round????

Im not fully convinced, thu I do feel more +ve about these....maybe.

If these where my birds, I would be far more careful where and how I would annouce... definately Not facebook....
I would be doing so in the same maner I have done other stuff...work with a close handful of trusteed long term breeders /members here.
Like the 2 Peters, Cats and wyranda in Aussie... on the quiet.
All people I have discussed things with and trust.
I would also quietly invite , where possible... the 2 Peters for an aftewrnoon coffee, veiw , discuss where to go from there.

The way this has been announced I find, with due respect, a little bold or niave....which adds to my doubt...

I think part of the problem lies in the fact that for several years we have been cheated and fooled, intentionally and unintentionally, so even though these birds may be real, until we see a few more pics we won't be fully convinced.

Peter, I agree with you that giving up your adress, etc.... wouldn't be such a good idea. These birds could have a crazy price, plus their uniqueness.
Maybe that's the reason why the breeder didn't post yet many more pics, to avoid his aviary being identified.

About the color, the thing that doesn't add up to me so far is that the color is somehow dark, compared to, for instance, the blue fisheri or personatus lovebird, that the blue mutation has a rather green-ish tinge.
But this of course could be the "distrust" filter added up to different computer, screen, digital camera, etc...
It makes a big difference the same picture just corrected slightly for light/brigness to make it sharper (I don't consider it photoshopping or cheating, it's just making the picture look more like the real thing).

For instance this one looks more like the "real deal" to me, I just noticed it's been posted in facebook recently.

In any case, thanks to the user Blue-Red-fronted-Parakeet for coming here and sharing with us the pictures and the information.

The new photos on face book should remove any doubt about these birds being the real deal or not. I am like Steps facebook would have been the last place i would have put the pictures even though we are all gratefull that he did. These picts have got the kakariki breeders here in Aus very excited!!!

Brett I am with you. I am very excited. Dont think we will have them here in Aussie to soon. I will have my hand up for some when they appear. They look like they have a few of them. Great news for the kaka world. Hanging to see a well marked blue pied.
Cheers Kevin

I didn''t visit kakariki.net lately. Yesterday fortunately I was looking for some info about the spangled yellow fronted which are nowadays in my collection, but that is no topic anymore as blue has arrived.
These are great pics and I can't believe they are photoshopped unless some pro did a very good job.
However I doubt if these are real blue birds. I would think its a reduction of psittacin but not total. There is still some red/orange in the cap of the blue and white bird.
But I like to congratulate the guy/girl who has bred them. It is great they finally arrived. As always I am available to help him/her to establish a good breeding pool to spread them around the world in all kind of combinations.
